Scout Saturday at Riverbanks Zoo

Jordan and I attended a scout program at the zoo. It was for both girl scouts and cub scouts. Look at all the scouts that attended.

Jordan is the back row surrounded by girls.

They did a wonderful program about customers and producers. They also had live animals for the kids to see and touch.

Did you know that a giraffe has the same number of vertebrates as a human? They are just much longer longer on a giraffe.

After the program, Jordan and I explored the zoo. There is a fake tree in the bird house we love to visit. This visit was much more eventful than our others. There was a bird on the other side of the glass that didn't like us in his tree. He kept hitting the glass with his head to get us out of the tree.

This is the view of the bird from inside the tree.

My cousin, Janet, got married at this very spot in the gardens

The monkeys put on a show for us.

Canoeing in the Congree Swamp

Jordan's cub scout den went to Congree National Park to canoe down Cedar Creek. There was an extra space so Hunter visited his friend, Chris.

Jordan is ready to canoe

Hunter, Jordan and Chris were in a canoe by themselves. They were the first in the water. Ready to canoe.

The canoe trip was beautiful with all the large cypress and Spanish Moss. You can hear the birds, squirrels, and beavers on the shores.

Chris and I were in a canoe by ourselves. All the boys in our den attended but one. It is always nice to have a good turn out. I think everyone had a great time.

At the end of trip, Chris and I had a race with Hunter, Jordan and Chris. Well, you can guess who won... the boys. In our defense, there were 3 of them. :)
