Collins Tuohy

As a Kappa Delta alma, I had the opportunity to meet Collins Tuohy.  The movie The Blind Side was based on her family.  She is the daughter and a Kappa Delta.

I didn't want to go alone so I ask Heather, Laura's first cousin on the other side, to come with me.  She is a Kappa Delta from USC.  We had a nice time catching up.

Collins gave a wonderful speech about making a difference to someone.

One person can't necessary change the world, but can definitely change the world for one person.

Afterwards she meet her fellow Kappa Delta almas.  Here we are in some group photos.

The celebration continues

Mom and Dad took Hunter out to eat for his birthday.  He could pick any restaurant.  So he picked Ryan's.  He loves eating at a buffet.

South Pacific

We went to see South Pacific on Hunter's actual birthday.

Hunter helped out backstage during the production of South Pacific so he signed the wall.

I'm not sure if you remember this from the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang blog entry.   But Hunter made this for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  They painted and added some plants so they could use it in South Pacific.

During the South Pacific performance, Hunter climbed inside this volcano with dry ice.  He was in charge of making the volcano erupt.

Hunter is a teenager!

For Hunter's 13th birthday, he wanted to go to The Big Mo which is a local drive in.  Our neighbors were nice enough to let us use their van so we could all go together.

So we loaded up the van with food, boys, Oreo and me and headed for the Big Mo.

The boys and Oreo played on the playground before the movie.

It was cold night and it started lightly raining during the second movie.  The boys hung in there like champs and ever complained.

Everyone watching the movie

We arrived back home around 2 am.  I thought everyone would go to sleep.  But I was wrong.  They stayed up all night playing video games.

After everyone left, we took a nap.

Flag Retirement

Craig invited us to his troops flag retirement ceremony.  It was on 9-11 so we thought it was a very fitting way to spend the afternoon.  We had a flag at the scout hut that was badly in need on being retired.  So we brought it also.

Jordan

They cut the flag before they burt it.  They taked around each section of the flag.

Then they burt each section separately.  It is a very well done ceremony.

Craig videoed the ceremony for his troop.

We were all glad Craig invited us.

Labor Day Parade

Jordan and I, along with the rest of PAck 870, were in the Chapin Labor Day parade this year.  We decided for the pack to ride their bikes or scooters in the parade this year.

Jordan and I before the parade

The parade route was 2 miles long.  I was worried about the boys getting tired of riding their bike and wanting me to carry it or them riding into the crowd.  It turned out better than I thought.  Only 1 boy rode into the crowd.  Luckily the man he was heading straight at moved out of the way.

The parade and the events afterwards were a lot of fun.  What a great way to celebrate Labor Day.

Bicycle Rodeo

Our cub scout pack had a bicycle rodeo.  Bike safety and proper bike care were covered.  We are getting the scouts ready to ride their bikes in the labor day parade.
