State House

Hunter had a field trip at the State House. His class had a guided tour of the State House that lasted over an hour. Because of increased security measurements, only 4 parents could go with the students on the tour. So I was not able to go inside with the class. After the tour, the class ate lunch on the State House grounds and did a scavenger hunt on the grounds.

Hunter stayed with me after the field trip. We went inside the State House together and he gave me a guided tour. This picture is the dome from inside.

This is the House Chamber. There are 124 members of the House of representatives in SC. The SC Senate has 46 members.



Downtown was very busy. They had Sumter Street blocked off for a film crew. They are filming the movie Nailed at the State House. So of course we stayed and watched them film.

James Marsden and Jessica Biel star in the movie. The rumor was that Justin Timberland was in Columbia also since he is dating Jessica Biel.

After the class left, Hunter and I planted a letterbox near the State House. Hunter is great at thinking up clues.

Finlay Park

We walked around Columbia after we left the State House. I showed Hunter the Horseshoe at USC. We also went to Finlay Park. Hunter enjoyed walking around the water fountain. I told him that Chris and I went on dates to Finlay Park. This amazed Hunter.

Kittens

One of our neighbor's cat had 3 kittens at our house today. The boys found her and the kittens. All 3 of her cats had kittens within one week. They now have 9 kittens so let me know if you want one.

Run, Hunter, Run!

Hunter had a track meet this morning. He is enjoying running on the track team again this year. A lot of his friends are running track this year which makes the meets more fun.

Hunter ran in the 100 and 200 meter races today. He did very good and had lots of fun. He is hoping to compete in a relay race at the next meet.

Impact

Jordan played in his first soccer game of the season today. He had a great time!


He was goalie for a quarter of the game.

Beautiful March Days

There have been some beautiful days this month. It has been in the 70s lots of days. Thank goodness for Spring. I much prefer the warmer weather than the cold. It has been warm enough to go boating but no swimming yet.

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday. The easter bunny was able to find our house and fill the boys baskets with goodies. We went to church. After church, we ate at Mom an d Dad's house. We enjoyed spending some time together.

Easter egg hunt

Our neighborhood had an easter egg hunt for the kids today. They had 550 eggs to hunt. So there was no fighting over eggs and everyone had plenty.

What a crappie day!

Saturday, we went to a letterboxing gathering in Greenwood. All gathering have a name. This one was named " Another Crappie Day in Greenwood." It was name in honor of Greenwood's most famous letterbox, "A Crappie Day." As you probably know, crappie is a type of fish. The letterbox is planted near Lake Greenwood and is a stamp of a crappie fish.

It is a rare scene. The whole family, even Chris, is stamping. Now that rarely happens. The gathering was at a fire station. All the kids loved climbing the the fire trucks and trying on fire helmets.

Cub Scouts

Hunter had his blue and gold cub scout banquet. He moved up in rank and received his bear badge. We are very proud of him.
