Court of Honor

Hunter had his Court of Honor for Boy Scouts. He received 2 rank advancements...his second and first class. He was the first boy from his patrol to get his second class advancement and the only boy to get his first class advancement. We are very proud of him.

Chris' 40th SURPRISE party

Hunter, Jordan and I threw Chris a surprise party for his 40th birthday! It is hard to believe that we actually surprised Chris. But we pulled it off.

I thought his cake turn out great!

Jake helped me get Chris out of the house and kept him entertained while we set up for the party and everyone arrived. Our neighbors, Dave and Mary, let everyone park at their house. His parents brought old pictures of him.

Chris, Jake, Trish, Kelly and Justin

Jake's last name is Hooker. So with his brother, Drew and his son at the party and Jake's family. I was kidding Chris that 6 Hookers were at his 40th party. How many people can say that? And his wife invited them.

Chris was surprised to see so many people from different stages of his life at the party.

Beth, Kim, Melanie and Charlie

The biggest surprise for Chris was seeing his brother.

Cole and Chris

The kids went swimming at the lake and had fun playing together.

Chris and his cake
We only made him blow out 2 candles.
After the big surprise, we were not sure his heart and lungs would be able to blow out 40 candles. :)

Cole and his family spent the night with us. We enjoyed seeing them. The boys stayed up until 2am playing and watching movies.

Thanks to everyone who helped us surprise Chris!

Max's Ancestry Analysis

Max's results are in. We had our dog's DNA tested to see what breeds he is.

Max is ...
between 37 - 74% Chow Chow,
between 20- 36 % Boxer and
between 10-19% Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

I was very surprised about the boxer but that explains the long tongue. But one thing is definite, Max is an excellent watchdog.

Camping at Harbison Forest

The cub scout pack camped at Harbison Forest for graduation this year. They only let scouts camp there and we had a blast.

On a nature walk we found this cool turtle.

The camp site was next to the Broad River so the boys enjoyed fishing there. Too bad no one caught supper.

There night the boys sang songs and told stories around the campfire.

The boys at the campsite

Hunter and Jordan bought their bikes. Harbison Forest is known for its awesome biking trails. Michael showed us this incredible meadow near the campsite. It ran on the banks of the river. It was neat walking down a wooded trail making a turn into a huge meadow.

THe Wheel of Science Facts

Hunter had to make a science game for an end of year science project. Hunter made The Wheel of Science Facts. He came up with the idea, painted it, and nailed it together. He also made cards with questions about Simple Machines and Energy. What a project!
