Pawley's Island

For Labor Day weekend, we went to Pawley's Island to visit Laura and her family. Friday was Anna's 5th birthday. She woke up when we got there and wanted some birthday cake. So at 1 am, Anna ate some birthday cake and then went back to bed. Who can blame her? Your birthday only comes once a year.

The kids had a great time playing together. I'm so glad Laura lives closer now. Laura let the kids make pizza one night. Thomas and Anna made one and Hunter and Jordan made another. Then they decided who's tasted better. This was one of Hunter's favorite things we did.

We went to Huntington Beach State Park. We toured Atalaya, the summer home of Anna Huntington who created and donated the land for Brookgreen Gardens. She also made a lot of the sculptures for Brookgreen including the one of the men fighting on horses when you drive in BGG. We also letterboxed and played on the beach there. The beach had rows of beautiful dunes. It was wonderful being on the beach and not seeing any hotels.

The kids loved riding their boggy board and playing in the sand. There were lots of waves. Laura, Larson and I mainly stayed under umbrellas and talked.

Laura and her family are going to start building a house on this beautiful lot soon. The lot has 8 gorgeous live oak trees. The style of their new house is very low country and will look perfect with all the live oak trees and Spanish moss.
