Blue and Gold

The Blue and Gold banquet is when the Webelos II cross over to Boy Scouts. It will be my den's turn next year. So this year for the presentation of the colors, the Webelos II brought the flags in and the Webelos I retired the colors. This is symbolic of the Webelos II leaving and the Webelos I assuming the senior position in the pack. Jordan was the scout in charge so he gave the orders to the color guard. He did a great job!

Hunter was in charge of carrying the boy scout flag. He also helped the cub scouts crossing over change their cub scout uniforms into boy scout uniforms.

All 4 of the boys grandparents were able to attend. It is so nice that they are close.

Hunter shadows Craig

One of Hunter's school projects this year was to shadow someone in a job he might like to do one day. He choose to shadow Craig, a wonderful family friend, who allowed Hunter to shadow him for a day. Craig is the Senior Producer/Director at ETv. So on Groundhog's Day, Hunter shadowed Craig. Hunter loved it. He saw all the equipment used to film and edit programs. He found out how Craig uses math, reading and other communication skills in his job.

Hunter is going to do a class presentation on what he learned in April. He has been using Glogster this year. So in April, I will post his presentation on the blog.

Pinewood Derby Race

The pinewood derby is one of the boy's favorite cub scouting event. Above is Jordan with some boys from our den before the race.

Our den was the color guard at the race. Jordan was in charge of the cub scout flag.

There were lots of cool cars this year like the one closest in the picture. It was a shark. Another one was shaped like a banana. Chris and I were in charge of the awards for the cars. We came up with something unique about each car which was pretty hard for the last 5 cars. I want to give " The Fruitiest Car" Award to the banana car but Chris voted me down because it sounded gay.

Here is Jordan with his Clemson car. He had a little tiger driver but we had to remove it because of the weight limit.
Since Hunter is in boy scouts, he can not race in the pinewood derby. So he volunteered to be a race official. He had a great time being in charge.

Jordan and Luke (the banana car) are racing. Hunter is making sure the cars are on the track correctly before they race.

Here are the winners from my den. Jordan came in 2nd! Jordan and Chris did a great job on his car.

Max and Hunter are the best of friends. Here they are walking on the dock.

Max is growing at an alarming rate. When we got him, he only weighed 5 pounds. Now he is over 10 pounds. We are having to loosen his collar weekly.

Pedicure

I had my first pedicure today. It is hard to believe that at 39 years old that was a first for me. I choose a crazy color of green with glitter. They turned out pretty good.

Our new family member

Meet the newest member of a family - Max

We adopted him from a rescue shelter. They found him and his brothers and sisters in a box at an elementary school in the sewer drain. They found him right before the big snow storm.

Jordan and Max
He is extremely smooth and feeling like a teddy bear. He sleeps most of the day now.
Hunter and Max

When I got home from work, it is how I found him. Asleep on the couch with his head on a pillow.

Snow - 5 Day

Can you believe we still have this much snow after 5 day??? The kids missed a whole week of school.

Braces

Hunter got his braces on today. The treatment should last 2 to 2 1/2 years. Then he will have perfect straight teeth with no overbite.

Hunter was ready to get braces. He says the sooner he gets them on, the sooner they will come off.
