Spring Band Concert

The Chapin Middle School Bands Spring Band Concert was Tuesday. They did an amazing job.

I tortured Hunter by taking this picture of him in front of his friends. You can tell the expression of complete joy on his face.

Hunter was blessed with all 4 grandparents attending the concert.
Jane even attended with a broken toe!

Everyone enjoyed the music. It sounded beautiful even in the school gym.

Our favorite sax player

Here is the 6th grade playing one of my favorite songs. Click on the arrow to hear it played. Hunter is on the far left hand side at the end of the row. He is on the last row. The music stand is blocking his face sometimes during the song. I think he planned that.

Jordan plays Ripper in High School Musical, Jr

Jordan played in High School Musical, Jr this weekend. Click on the arrow to see my favorite part of the play. You can also click on the last button on the right to see it in full screen. (The one with the 4 arrows pointing at the corners)

Jordan has been practicing every Saturday for months to get ready for High School Musical, Jr. He has loved every minute. They performed at the brand new theatre at Midlands Tech Harbison Campus. The theatre is amazing.

This is Jordan AKA "Ripper" in his dressing room.

There were 4 shows that weekend.

Jordan played a baseball player and a skater. Here he is with all the jocks.

The cast helped each other put on stage makeup. So I asked Jordan a question I thought I would never ask my son. Who did your makeup? He answered Troy. I must say Troy did a great job with Jordan's eyeliner.

Hunter worked backstage on stage right. He helped everyone with their cues and props. He also communicated with stage left and the sound and light box during the show. He loved doing this and is taking a summer camp to learn how to program the light and sound machines at Town Theatre.

Here we are supporting our Wildcats.
I'm even wearing a red shirt.

My mom attended 2 performances. Dad went to 1.

Jordan loved signing his autograph for the fans.

Thom and Jane attended the last performance Sunday night.

Easter

Our family Easter Sunday

The boys and Max
Look how big he is. Will he ever stop growing?

We all receive an Easter basket from the Easter Bunny even Max. Max loved his basket. He didn't want ours which were filled with candy. Hunter picked out the blue rubber chicken for Max's basket. He loved it. It makes the most annoying sound.

After church, Mom invited us over for lunch. It was nice spending time with them.

Jane and the boys

It is hard to believe that Hunter is as tall as Jane. And Jordan isn't too far behind.
According to Dr Pitner, he will be 6'1". We will see. Hunter already wears the same size shoe as Chris and me.

Spring Break - Beaufort

We spent the second half of Spring Break in Beaufort. The boy's favorite part of Beaufort was the outdoor swimming pool at the hotel. We could have saved a lot of money and swam in the neighbors pool. But we all enjoyed getting away.

We took a horse and buggy tour of Beaufort which was a lot of fun and we learned a lot.

The Castle was built over 150 years old. There are gorgeous giant Oak trees in front of the house.

This is the hanging tree. Numerous pirates and outlaws were hung from the tree.

As you probably know most of Forest Gump was filmed in Beaufort. Even the Vietnam scenes when filmed near Fripp Island. Here we are in front of Bubba's church. Tom Hanks stepped in that very spot during filming. The bench scenes were filmed in Savannah. I guess they could not find a bench they liked in Beaufort.

This is the bridge the Forrest Gump ran across when he crossed the Mississippi River. After filming, the movie studio left the "Welcome to Mississippi" sign on the bridge. The local government was not very happy and had in removed.

Another picture on the bridge.
We also went to The Chocolate Tree, the chocolate shop were Forrest got his famous box of chocolate.
YUM!!!

This was a neat overlook we found in Port Royal. There were about 6 flights of stairs to walk up to get to the top.
We ate at our favorite seafood restaurant, 11th Dockside, in Port Royal. We had not eaten there since Hunter was a toddler. So we enjoyed eating and talking without having to entertain a toddler.

We enjoyed looking at all the ships outside to restaurant. What a beautiful view.

Our boys

We went to Hunting Island State Park. There we are at the top of the lighthouse. You could see for miles.

There was a neat Nature Center and boardwalk at Hunting Island State Park. There are my men on the boardwalk with the Fripp Island bridge behind them. (which by the way was the bridge Nick Nolte drove over in The Prince of Tides)

Spring Break - Charleston, SC

We went to Charleston for the first half of spring break. Jordan had a rehearsal for his play so we left after is practice was over. After we checked into the hotel, we headed downtown to eat and go on a ghostwalk.

Walking around Charleston in the dark talking about ghost is a little spooky especially when you are walking through graveyards.

This is an alley in Charleston where duels took place. A doctor was killed in a duel in this alley. He would walk down the street whistling an unique tune. They say you can still hear him whistle. In the house he use to live in, the humor is that you can hear him walking upstairs whistling especially when the children that live in the house are sick. Remember he was a doctor.
We walk through one of the graveyard in Charleston. There was a full moon that night. We heard stories about people who were buried there.

So after the ghostwalk, we had to use the bathroom. They gave us a key and said it was the first black door on the right.

This is the sign on the door.

We did a walk tour of Charleston. After living in Charleston for 3 years, it was funny being a tourist. But at least we know our way around.
The 3 sister houses

I love this picture of the boys looking up at the houses.

When I lived in Charleston, I went to First (Scots) Presbyterian Church on Tradd Street. So we went inside so Jordan could see my old church.

Camping at Sesquicentennial State Park

Our den was camping at Sesquicentennial State Park. Hunter is now our den's Den Chief. He is working on getting the boys ready to cross over to boy scouts.

He taught them about fire safety and how to built a fire. He had them pitch a tent as a team without help. He review the Scout Motto, Oath and Law. Then he taught them how to tie several knots.

Hunter and Jordan
Jordan was Hunter's most difficult student since he didn't want to learn anything from his brother.

A huge storm just missed us. There was golf ball sized hail in Rock Hill that night. Thank goodness we were not camping in Rock Hill.

We went on a Nature Walk that morning before the park was crowded.

Max's first boat ride

Hunter and Max

We took Max on his first boat ride. I'm not sure how much he liked it. He went under the steering wheel compartment and tried to hide. If he keeps growing, he will not be able to fit under there much longer.
