Daytona

Next we headed to Daytona. Hunter loves NASCAR. His favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt, Jr. #8. Chris and I have been studying up on NASCAR since we know (knew) very little about it. Hunter was very excited about seeing the track and the cars.

We took a tour of the track. They took us in a trolley like vehicle to the track. We saw the 30 degree embankment on the track. I cannot imagine driving on them. Then we went to victory lane. In the picture above, we are standing on the victory lane stage. You can almost hear the fans ... Well almost.

There was a cool stimulated racing game. It really felt like you were racing in the Daytona 500. The car shook, when you crashed, the car would spin and on the embankment the car would tilt. The higher you went up the more the car would tilt.
There was also a very good 3D IMAX movie and a cheesy stimulated ride the boys rode three times.

Here we are in front of the actual car that won the Daytona 500. Every year the winners car is taken and tested to make sure they did not cheat. Then the car goes on display for 1 year until the next Daytona 500. The car is given back to the driver 3 days before the next race.
Visiting Daytona was Hunter's favorite thing on the trip.
